Proteus is a band from San Diego whose journey began in 2019 as an experiment with Pearl Jam covers. Evolving from Corduroy to Minus 1 and finally to Proteus, the group found its voice in alternative metal, blending groove, intricate rhythms, and the energy of nu-metal.
The 2020 lockdown became a catalyst: the musicians abandoned covers to focus on original material, resulting in their debut EP.
Their sound fuses progressive structures with the melodicism of grunge, setting Proteus apart on the local scene. At the heart of their music lies friendship and a philosophical approach to life, turning rehearsals into a laboratory of ideas.
