Urisk is a duo from Bonn, Germany, made up of vocalist Marlin and guitarist/producer Benedikt. Drawing inspiration from black metal, their music weaves together fury and fragility, introspection and myth, raw power and otherworldly dissonance.
Their debut album, Shrivelling Lights, is a self-produced work forged in solitude-six expansive compositions that convey isolation, grief, rage, and a longing for something ancient. It’s an immersion into personal and collective shadows, built on fractured riffs, ghostly melodies, and vocals that shift from mournful wails to haunting incantations.
Although the album was entirely recorded and produced by the band, Urisk enlisted session drummer Philip Geddnes, whose dynamic performance added a vital pulse to their sonic architecture. Final mastering was carried out by Fabian Schulz at Sunsetter Recording Studio in Bremen, Germany, imparting a cold clarity to the dense mix. The striking cover art, created by Joan Llopis Domènech, reflects the album’s themes of decay and spiritual unrest.
