“ «Pakt mit Dem Teufel»: The thirst for knowledge becomes a rebellion against God, morality, and the very role of a submissive human being. Faust dreams of breaking his chains, drinking life to the dregs, and mastering forbidden wisdom, while the pact signed in blood promises him freedom, pleasure, and power over his own destiny. The chalice of knowledge, silver stars, fire, and the nocturnal witches’ sabbath create a dark, intoxicating world in which defiance is almost inseparable from self-destruction.

Furious denial gives way to an exhilarating sense of omnipotence, yet behind the triumph, the price of the bargain emerges ever more clearly: the soul becomes payment for a single boundless moment, while freedom imperceptibly assumes the form of a new captivity.
