Blackened Death Metal is a subgenre of metal that combines the foundation of death metal with elements of black metal aesthetics. The guitar tone is thick and dense, featuring technical riffs characteristic of death metal, often played in lower tunings, alongside the use of tremolo picking typical of black metal, which creates a sinister atmospheric texture. Vocals are predominantly growls, though black metal-inspired shrieks, reminiscent of the classic black metal style, are also occasionally employed.
